Many dishes mostly cooked in the rural areas of Kerala are quite different in terms of flavours from their urban variations. A lady from a rural household will demonstrate the use of ingredients and techniques unique to her part of Kerala.
Kerala's traditional dance forms display components of classical and folk dance forms. They feature elaborate and vivid make up, costumes and accessories as well as minimalistic costumes and accessories. Performances can be vibrantly explosive as well characterised by subtle movements and expressions. At The Fog classical and folk dance performances are staged regularly at the resort for our guests.
Brides and grooms in Kerala weddings are attired in distinctive white cream shirts, kurtas and the men often appear bare chested only draped in a sarong like white garment with a gold border. Brides on the other hand will dress in simple white saree with a gold border and wear traditional jewellery. Guests, on request, may experience this novelty unique to this part of the country.

A tuk tuk is a coered motorized tri wheeler transport vehicle. The driver sits in front and other travellers sit on bench seats behind. Exploring the various roads and by-lanes is a novel experience. The Fog will provide guest with its own tuk tuk and driver
This tour involves a half day trek to an indigenous tribal village. The trek will traverse shola forest and gentle mountains slopes, pass through a spice plantation. Guests will experience at close quarters, how spices are cultivated and processed. They will have glimpses of the daily lives of people in a tribe besides aspects of their culture.
The excursion involves visits to a church, mosque and church of renown in the area. Guests will get to view certain aspects of the prevalent religious architecture besides some of the distinctive religious rituals.
The area around The Fog is a birding hotspot with a fascinating range of endemic and migratory species that an enthusiast may observe. Guest will accompany an experienced naturalist with an intimate knowledge of the behaviour patterns of different birds as well the topography of the area.
Jeep safaris go out into the fabulous wild life parks in the area at the break of dawn and later in the afternoon when wildlife is visible beside the trails and at watering spots. The safaris are escorted by experienced game wardens who are excellent trackers with an exhaustive knowledge about the wildlife in the parks.
The reservoir behind the Chengulam dam near The Fog is a scenic spot of great beauty, situated in the bowl of a valley and surrounded by mountains. It is also a spot for boating at leisure in the lake. Boats on offer include peddle boats, speed boats and larger boats. The scenic views all around also make it an excellent spot for nature photography.
Situated near the border between the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Chathurangapara is a windy hilltop that offers superlative panoramic views. It also a site for windmills that generate electrical power. Sunsets at Chathurangapara are spectacular and The Fog will arrange trips for guests.
